What a joy it is to have such a great collaboration with Jaipur Rugs Foundation. Their mission fits in seamlessly with what we are fighting for. Let us update you about this very first project we are supporting with pride.
About Jaipur Rugs Foundation
Jaipur Rugs Foundation (JRF) was born in 2004 as a non-profit organization. Their work is to engage communities to develop their creative capacities and sustain them as a part of an entire movement of empowerment. JRF began as a simple dream, to make the lives behind handmade rugs have every opportunity to reach their full potential to work and live a life with dignity. They empower artisans to escape the precincts of poverty and hunger by creating sustainable market-based solutions for the sub-alter. Most of the artisans they work with are women – the invisible segment of the rural population. JRF enables economic independence to women working at home and helps them assert their rights.
About the WELL project
For the Women Empowerment through Livelihood and Leadership Project (WELL project), we have come together with JRF as a partner to provide a sustainable livelihood opportunity to 50 women living in Dhanota Rajasthan. The purpose is:
Providing sustainable livelihood to women affected by the COVID-19 pandemic
Employment generation through advanced skill development
Fair and timely wages and well-being
Development of Leadership skills especially in women
Direct domestic and International market linkage
Mission accomplished!
With the help of our first CRF donation of €5,000 and the support of another anonymous donation (~€10,000), 36 women are currently being trained in the craftsmanship of weaving.
Last month we rounded up a 2nd donation of €6,023, which is the total sum raised through the individual donations from our community. This means that we have successfully achieved the project's funding goal to train 50 women. Cheers to that! And of course big thanks to all the supporters.

Sadly, far too many people are still suffering the consequences of truly bad working conditions. We are currently reviewing applications to support two new projects, and we will keep you updated with the outcome!
