In the last year, we have been incredibly proud to support the Jaipur Rugs Foundation’s Women Empowerment Through Livelihoods and Leadership Development project in India. The aim of the project is “to teach women who live in rural poverty skills so that they can earn money with the craftsmanship for the rest of their lives. This means that they are not forced to move to the big cities to find work there, but can work in the countryside where they live and provide for their families” (Yash Ranga of the Jaipur Rugs Foundation).
We are now super excited to be in a position to invite applications for more projects that work towards our mission: ending inhumane workplaces. We are looking to fund two awesome projects of up to €20,000. The application deadline is Friday 12 November.
What projects do we fund?
From child labour and slavery to unsafe and harmful working conditions, far too many people suffer the consequences of truly bad work. We aim to put an end to this. In pursuit of our mission, we're making a start by focusing on four themes:
Raising awareness of the issue of harmful working conditions.
Supporting projects in the developing world that will make working conditions safer.
Supporting projects closer to home that will make working conditions safer.
Raising awareness of positive alternatives and how our own buying habits can improve working conditions.
Our own work and the projects we support are guided by 3 core values:
Transparency: We believe in radical transparency and expect this from the projects we support.
Rebelliousness: To truly have an impact, it's vital to stand up for what you believe in, take brave actions and bold risks. We're not looking for half-hearted commitments. We're funding rebelliousness.
Sustainability: We support long-term solutions over patchwork or superficial fixes. We're here for real impact, now and for the future. Our funding goes to projects that have the potential to create long term change.
Based on our mission and values, we fund projects around the world that focus on improving working conditions and helping to end inhumane workplaces.
